Monique Coleman-Byas has always believed that a family, stable home and a good education are the three most important things every child needs to succeed and blossom in this life. Growing up in a household of seven brothers and sisters she put her education on hold to make sure her siblings were well taken care of.  During one of the worst drug epidemics to hit the Black Community, Monique took in a child who’s mother was addicted and this was when she was in her teens and against her mothers approval. She cared for this child making sure she had food and clothes and that she went to school every day. Monique has always had the passion for helping any child in need and this is what allows her to do what she loves and that is foster children.

When she decided to have her own children she never imagined the relationships she would develop with their friends. To this day they consider her their second mom, she makes sure they know she is here for them regardless of what life throws their way. Monique has been fortunate to meet so many wonderful and beautiful young men and women who are misunderstood by their families. Her heart  aches for the LGBT community and understands all they endure. She does not judge anyone but instead opens her home when their families wont accept them for who they are. She leaves an impression on every person that has crossed her path.

Monique Coleman-Byas is an administrative professional with extensive experience at Cushman & Wakefield, one of the world’s largest commercial real estate services firm.  Monique brings a wide-range of expertise to the Style House as President and Founder of this organization. Her vision is to make sure every child has stability in their life by having a home instead of being homeless.

Monique believes in giving back to the community, and mentoring youth holds a special place in her heart. Active throughout her community, Monique guides young people towards the right path by helping them obtain employment, seek education opportunities and improve life skills.  In addition, she serves meals to neighborhood residents, and as a certified foster parent provides love and stability for at-risk children.
